Tumors and Pop Eye

Tumors (usually not contagious) obvious lumps, bumps or protrusions, tumors sometimes look like a large blister or wart. They have been known to grow to the size of a large screw head. They can be surgically removed, but that should only be done by a veterinarian.

Pop Eye (also known as exophthalmoses; not contagious)

This is difficult to diagnose, because people sometimes think they have bought the wrong fish. These fish suffer from eyes that begin to protrude in a very abnormal way. There is no cure for it. It usually happens to Common Goldfish, Comets, Shubunkins and the like. As long as the fish does not seem to suffer and goes on living a normal life, there is no reason to act.
