Multiple Spawning

If you want more eggs than you got, or if you are interested in performing additional breeding of your fish, the male and female will be more than happy to spawn for you again. Place them back in the divided tank and continue to feed them high-protein foods. Then place them back together every seven to ten days. They should start mating again without incident during the spawning season.

If you continue mating the same pair in the same tank, make sure that you change some of the water at one point or another, in high concentrations, goldfish sperm is not good for goldfish. If you are attempting multiple spawning, make sure you change the water in the parents' tank at least once a week.

Eggs

The water temperature in a hatchery is very important .While the eggs will eventually hatch, the water should be kept between 66F and 74F. This means that the eggs should hatch in anywhere from three and a half to five days. The colder the water, the longer it takes for the fry to hatch.

Healthy eggs are round and clear - these are fertile. Some eggs will not be clear, but will appear white or tan and will be opaque, these have not been fertilized. An egg fungus, somewhat white and furry, will develop on the eggs that are not fertile or infected. These will be easily detectable in twenty-four hours.

Remove unfertilized eggs from the tank as soon as possible to avoid any complications. Adding salt to the tank should cut down on the chances that this will happen. But removing nonpro-ducing eggs as quickly as possible is the only safe bet Fertile eggs remain so clear that you can watch them develop. Within two days you should be able to detect what will be eyes inside each tiny egg.
