Aquarium - Gravel |
Gravel is an important consideration in setting up any fish tank, but especially so with goldfish. Goldfish are excellent scavengers and bottom feeders. They will take up big bunches of gravel, hold them in their mouths and then spit them back out. Goldfish are also known for moving gravel around quite a bit, which sometimes makes aquascaping difficult.
The gravel should be no smaller or finer than medium course so that it is not accidentally ingested, and it should be smooth so that it does not damage the fishes' mouths.
